1Pet2 20-25

If you suffer for doing what is right and you patiently endure it, God is pleased with you.  This suffering is all part of what God has called you to.  Since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps.  He never sinned, and he never deceived anyone.   When they insulted him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threat to get even.  He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.  He personally carried away our sins in his own body on the cross so we can be dead to sin and live for what is right.  By his wounds you have been healed!  Once you were wondering like lost sheep.  But now you have returned to your Shepherd the Guardian of your souls.

Psalm 86

Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me; for I am poor and needy.

Preserve my soul, for I am a godly man; save your servant who trusts in you.

You are my God; be gracious to me, O Lord, for to You do I cry all day long.

Gladden the soul of your servant, for to You, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in unfailing love to all who call on you.

Hear my prayer, O Lord, listen to my urgent cry

I will call on you whenever trouble strikes, and you will answer me.

There are none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours.

All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord, and they will glorify your name.

For you are great and do wonderous things; You alone are God.

Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart that I might fear your name.

I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify your name forever.

For great is your steadfast love for me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of the grave.

O God, arrogant men are attacking me, a band of violent men are trying to take my soul; and you mean nothing to them.

But you, O Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and truth.

Turn to me and take pity on me; give strength to your servant, and save the son of your handmaid.

Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see it and be put to shame, because you, O Lord, have helped me and comforted me.
